Scope: Brand & Marketing An online community network, shmeco came to us and asked us to put a face to the name. Using the innovative web 2.0 platform, shmeco.com.au is an online community dedicated to the information exchange of sustainable living stories. The site invites people to share and exchange ideas and personal experiences revolved around ecoliving. We took the angle of a 'book of stories' that the community can add 'pages' or 'leaves' to and this formed the basis for our creative. The result is a open book-like graphic, a symbol of information that's free to be viewed (and contributed to). Part of the brief was to avoid the typical green colour palates associated with the environment - and as such we developed a palate of strong, earthy and even firey colours that engage the viewer and feel right at home representing the symbol of an online (digital) enterprise. The position of the 'book' graphic element, between the 'm' and 'e' of 'shmeco', ensures that there is an emphasis on (shm)eco.
