Leroy's Wine Blog

Being involved in the wine industry, we've been fortunate enough to try the odd ripper vino, and have even managed to stash a few away.

Wine is one of things where you either love it or you tolerate it. And above all the snooty, posh wine w#nk - as referred to by those who fear it, its perhaps best to think of wine the way the legendary Bob McLean (of St Hallet fame) like to refer to it* -

"a bottle of wine is 750ml of fun, and its only a good one if you like it!".

While sitting in the studio with a client, sipping on a fine McLaren Vale Shiraz and scoffing Golabki (a Polish dish, pronounced gowombki) in between fiddling with label mounting heights (to the nth degree), it dawned on me that we could share our opinions and even make some recommendations with other keen drinkers. Perhaps even talk labels too.....After all, I'd be out of a job if tank sample labels were in vogue.

So, with this idea hot in hand, Leroy's Wine Blog is born.

Cheers.

Wine of the Month

2003 d'Arenberg The Coppermine Cabernet Sauvignon

When did we drink it?
June 2009

What did we pay?
Expect to pay $60 at Cellar Door

What is it?
One of d'Arenberg's icon wines, it gets its name from the road that runs parallel to their very best cabernet vineyard.

Comment:
Perfect drinking now, if you like big wines that have been aged just enough to retain their fruit characters, smooth and rid of the tannin that can rip the inside of your mouth out when drank impatiently and too young, yet not aged to the point of being brick red and dusty - perhaps something I'll appreciate when I'm 50.
